Determining your needs
What do you need English for? What kind of situations and environments will you be using it in? Wanting to take an exam in 6 months is not the same as wanting to improve general English. There is a huge difference between being able to have a conversation in a social setting, and having to negotiate a business deal in a competitive, time-sensitive situation. The first step in any learning process is determining needs and goals.
Assessing your level
After determining your goals, we will assess your current level of English by giving you a simple online test. Based on our fist conversation, and on that test, we will assess your English and detect its strengths and weaknesses.
Setting a timeframe
Do you have a deadline? Are you moving to an English-speaking country, have an upcoming job interview, or need to take an international exam? The pace and frequency of your classes, and the amount of your homework, depends on the time available.
Choosing a curriculum
Without a clearly defined curriculum to follow, teaching will quickly reach a dead end. Many teachers make that mistake – but not us! Based on your needs, goals and available time, we will choose the curriculum that will ensure the best results.
Getting to know you
Everyone’s brain is different, and everyone acquires, retains and reproduces information in a different way. After the first couple of classes, the tutor will get to know you better and adjust the method and the curriculum accordingly. The curriculum will rely on our rich collection of teaching materials from the leading institutions.
A rounded skillset
Modern approach to language teaching consists of four major segments: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. Ideally, for complete fluency in a foreign language, you should learn how to be good at each of these segments. It is natural that some people are better at some of them, while they are struggling with the others. However, your long-term goal – and, by extension, ours – should be a well-rounded skillset applicable in any situation. Our teaching method ensures simultaneous development of your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Over the years of teaching, we have accummulated an extensive collection of teaching materials, consisting of several hundred textbooks, exam workbooks, vocabulary games, flashcards, supplementary reading, listening and speaking materials, sample writing for all kinds of assignments and so on. We also have a large amount of audio and video teaching materials for all ages, needs, and registers of English.
We use only the teaching materials designed by top educational institutions such as Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Longman, Pearson Education, Kaplan Inc, McGraw-Hill Education, HarperCollins Publishers, Penguin Random House and others.
